… Obaseki Meets Security Chiefs
The four banks that were affected in the multiple bank robbery at Uromi, the Headquarters of the Esan East Local Government Area, on Thursday did not open for operation.
Indications have emerged that it might take between one to three months for the banks to reopen for operation fir baking operations because of the extent of damaged caused by the robbers.
Only two banks which were not affected by the robbery are expected to resume operation in the town on Tuesday.

“We had a meeting at the weekend and I expect that the two banks that were not affected will resume operations on Tuesday but for those affected, it will one to three months for them to get back to operation.” A source said
However, the Governor of Edo, Godwin Obaseki, represented by his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, held a meeting with heads of security agencies in Benin to ensure that security is strengthened in the state.
The Governor also calls on the various security agencies for concerted action to ensure the arrest of robbers and to bring them to justice.
He commended the collaborative efforts between vigilance groups in the state and the security agencies which culminated in the recovery of some money and vehicles.
He said, “The synergy between the security agencies, youths and the vigilante network in the state is commendable as it has led to the recovery of some items.
“We applaud this cooperation and urge the people of Edo State to remain calm as we have upgraded our security architecture.
“I want to let our people know that we have beefed up security in the state and urge everyone to go about their normal businesses in Edo State. These criminals have no hiding place; we would make the state hot for them.
“We cannot reveal all information available to us now because the investigation is ongoing. Security is our collective responsibility and the Ubiaja incident should be our watchword as the cooperation led to some recoveries in that robbery attack.” He said
Speaking also, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of Operations, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, said they deliberate measures have been put in place to prevent a reoccurrence and to arrest those behind the evil acts.
“This type of incident will not happen again in Edo State. Some recoveries have already been made and investigations are ongoing. These will lead us to a level where all the perpetrators will be arrested and ensure it doesn’t happen again in Edo.
“The Edo State Government is ready to support logistics if the need arises. Edo people should go about their lawful businesses. Vehicles have been recovered and investigation is ongoing; much will not be revealed for now.” He said
