Cult Killings Rock Anambra CP Ad Urges Parents to Pay Attention to Their Wards

Piqued by increasing cultism in Anambra state, Commissioner of Police, Echeng Eworo Echeng has urged parents/guardians to always look out for their wards/children.

Echeng made the call on Monday when he paid a visit to Bishop Valerian Okeke, Archbishop of Onitsha Catholic Diocese.

“This shall enable parents to properly direct, guide and inform them to stay away from bad groups or gang,” he said.

He noted that the family, as the basic building block of the society, need to inculcate in them basic norms and values that will help them shy away from cult and bad group.”

It would be recalled that recently no fewer than 20 persons who went to attend a burial at Ebenebe, Awka North Local Goverment Area of the state were shot dead by cultists.

Also, two persons have been killed in Oko, Amaokpala and Ekwulobia last week.

At the last account, one person was gunned down at a house near the popular PAL Junction, Oko. Two persons were reported to have been murdered at different locations near the Ekwulobia motor park.

At Amaokpala, a hotel security guard was also reportedly gunned down at close range.

Echeng further revealed that on alleged cult shootings that took place in a burial at Ebenebe on Feb. 26, the Command is on top of the situation and have some suspects already in custody that are helping the police with information.

The Archbishop, in his response while receiving the CP and his entourage, prayed for the Police Command and the State.

He assured continuous collaboration with all the security agents in enhancing public safety and peace.

The CP urged “members of the public especially the people from Ebenebe to avail police with information that will aid the ongoing investigation and assures confidentiality on any information provided in this regard.
