Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed the eldest son of a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Bala Ali.
Bala Ali is the member representing Dass Constituency, at the state Assembly.
Abdul Burra, the Spokesperson for the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Suleiman, l disclosed this while sharing proceedings of the Assembly’s plenary on Tuesday nightwith journalists.
He said that the member representing Burra Constituency, Ado Wakili, informed the lawmakers during the House’s sitting under personal explanation.
Tuesday’s plenary was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Danlami Ahmed Kawule.
According to him, the lawmaker who extended his condolences to the Members on the murder of his colleague’s son described the incident as “tragic,” and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
Responding to the motion, the Speaker directed that a special prayer be conducted for the deceased. Bello Shira representing Shira Constituency led a special prayer.
The speaker announced that the lawmakers would pay a condolence visit to the member and his family immediately after the plenary.
Burra said that Baballe Dambam representing Dambam/Zagaya/Jalam Constituency while narrating what happened explained that the deceased was kidnapped by unknown people who held him for days and subsequently killed him.
He said that described the incident as shocking and disturbing adding that the funeral prayers for the deceased has already taken place.
It was also learnt that the then-member representing Dass Constituency, Musa Baraza, was attacked and killed on 14th August 2020 by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Amed Wakil, who confirmed the incident to journalists said that the deceased’s two wives and one-year-old child were also abducted by the gunmen.
They were later released from captivity after several days in captivity.
