SECURITY OPERATIVES RESCUE ABDUCTED EKITI PUPILS

Operatives of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies have at last rescued the kidnapped pupils and members of staff of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, made the disclosure on Sunday.

Abutu said all the pupils and staff were rescued around 1.30 am but for the driver of the bus who was killed.

“All victims were rescued today at about 1.30am, but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was suspectedly killed by the abductors.” He said

The State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, had doused tension on Saturday when  he assured troubled parents and families of kidnapped pupils and staff that they would be rescued safely.

The gunmen had shot at the tire of the bus conveying the pupils and teachers from the Apostolic School, Emure-Ekiti, and kidnapped them on Monday Eporo-Ekiti in the Emure area of the state.

The criminals had placed  a ransom of N10 million for each of the victims before the rescue on Sunday morning.
