Stern looking police operatives have cordoned off Blantyre Street, Wuse Zone 2, where the National Headquarters of the APC is located.
This is amidst a debunked speculation in the Media that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the removal of the Mai Mala Buni, chhairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and his replacement with his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Sani Bello.
However, investigation revealed that the development is not unconnected with the Monday’s planned inauguration of state chairmen of APC by m Mai Mala Buni-led CECPC
The security agents had taken positions as early as 8am on Blantyre street in Wuse 2, which is the location of the ruling party’s secretariat.
Already, hordes of people and vehicles were seen being screened by the security agencies.
It was learnt that the party invited the police to forestall any protest that may break out during the ceremony.
Many of the congresses that produced some of the Party’s chairmen to be inaugurated were rancorous with several factions in some states.
There were parallel congresses in some states which produced factional leaders.
Buni’s rumored resolve not to relinquish control of the party anytime soon is also said to be seriously threatening the APC’s planned convention scheduled for March 26.
Sources close to one of the APC governors disclosed that the CECPC chairman is only pursuing the composition of a zoning committee — which is just one of the several panels that need to be in place before the convention is held
A cording to the source, “Buni is definitely up to something — he wants to inaugurate the state executives this week and we are hearing he wants them to use a voice vote to say he should continue in office… this will only create more friction and confusion”.
