Radda Signs N897.8bn 2026 Appropriation Bill Into Law

News Investigators/ Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda on Wednesday signed the N897.8 billion 2026 appropriation bill of the state into law.

The bill, signed at the Katsina Government House, is tagged ‘Building Your Future 3.’

The governor commended the state House of Assembly for passing the budget within 21 working days.

Mr Radda said that the budget with 18 per cent recurrent and 81 per cent capital expenditure was a legacy of late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

He said that the current budget, with a lower percentage of recurrent expenditure, aligned with the legacy of the late president, who was also a former governor of the state.

The governor thanked the assembly members for their sacrifices, including forfeiting holidays and sleepless nights, to pass the budget as well as the number of bills passed in recent years.

Mr Raddah emphasised the importance of a good working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government and called for continued cooperation.

Earlier, the Speaker of the state assembly, Nasir Yahya-Daura, said the budget was an outcome of an intensive and illustrative process, with extensive study and questioning to ensure peoples’ needs are met for the progress of the state.

He recalled that the budget submitted by the executive was the same as the approved version, which made the assembly decide to maintain the same amount in the budget as proposed.

“After careful review, the house agreed that the proposal is sound and aligned with the development plan of the administration,” he said.

The speaker asked for divine assistance in the successful implementation of the budget  and in overcoming security challenges.
