Ogun 2027 : Obasanjo Urges Adebutu To Pursue Ambition With Wisdom, Humility

News Investigators/ Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun, Ladi Adebutu, to pursue his ambition with wisdom and humility.

Mr Obasanjo gave the advice on Monday when he received PDP leaders on a courtesy call at his penthouse in the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta.

The delegation included Mr Adebutu, the Ogun Central Senatorial candidate, Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo, and other party leaders.

Addressing the delegation, Mr Obasanjo said he had withdrawn from partisan politics but remained committed to the welfare and progress of Nigerians.

“At this stage of my life, I have set party politics aside. The goals of party politics are not always the same as promoting the people’s welfare.

“I can no longer engage in partisan politics. However, I remain deeply interested in the welfare, well-being and progress of our people,” he said.

The former president advised Mr Adebutu to ensure that his political aspirations aligned with God’s purpose.

“As for your desire and ambition, pursue them with wisdom and humility. Let your plans align with God’s purpose, because God ultimately directs our paths.

“Elders has a responsibility to guide society, preserve traditions and take actions that will benefit future generations.

“We must harness what God has entrusted to us for the good of our people,” he said.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Adebutu described Obasanjo as a father figure, mentor and statesman.

He said the visit was to seek the former president’s blessings and inform him of plans for better governance in Ogun.

“First and foremost, we came to spend quality time with our father and mentor and appreciate his invaluable contributions to the nation,” Adebutu said.

He said the delegation also informed Obasanjo of its commitment to pursuing a path that would deliver improved governance to the people.

Adebutu said the delegation received Obasanjo’s blessings and wise counsel, which would inspire them to move forward in the people’s interest.
