News Investigators/ The Federal Government of Nigeria and the Government of Mali have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The commitment is contained in a statement issued by Dr Magnus Eze, Special Assistant on Communication and New Media in the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Friday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the pledge was made following the presentation of the Letters of Credence by Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to Mali, Amb. Geoffrey Chima, to Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, in Bamako.
It stated that the presentation was followed by bilateral discussions centered on deepening cooperation between the two countries.
The statement said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic consultation mechanisms to foster a more productive and mutually beneficial South-South partnership.
It added that the discussions also focused on the evolving geopolitical situation in the sub-region, particularly the need to enhance collaboration in the fight against terrorism and other security threats.
The statement further said both countries underscored the importance of solidarity, constructive political dialogue and mutual trust among African states as essential for addressing shared regional challenges and promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.
