The Lagos State Police Command had said that an angry mob lynched two suspected POS operators in Lagos on Independence Day.
The Spokesman of the Command, Mr David Hundenyi stated in his official Twitter handle that the mob also burnt the corpses of the two suspects beyond recognition.
He said that the two men allegedly robbed a POS attendant at Igando, Lagos.
He said further that the mob had dispersed before the police got to the scene of the crime.
” Police arrived at the scene but the mob had fled. The investigation has commenced,” he said.
The Police Spokesman condemned jungle justice describing it as a criminal offence in the country.
He urged the members of the public to stop the primitive practice and hand over suspects to the police for investigation and prosecution.
