••• A YEAR AFTER BURNING HIS HOME
The residence of the father of the Imo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief COC Akaolisa, has been burnt down by rampaging gunmen.
The gun men struck at the country home of the Attorney General at Obibi, Awo-Idemili, Orsu LGA of Imo State around 12 am on Saturday night.
The Network gathered that the assailants known in local parlance as “unknown gunmen” had burnt the residence of the Attorney General last year.
Investigation revealed that the gun men decided to target Barr Akaolisa after he spoke against the killing of security personnel in the area as the Chief law officer of Imo State. Investigation revealed that the gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, completely burnt even the blocks and the bricks, and carted away properties.
Photos of the attack showed that the attackers burnt everything in sight including vehicles parked in the compound.
“This is a house of an old man, the father of the Attorney General. He built this compound with his sweat. This is where all the children of the old man, his daughters and sons all stay when they visit hone.
“You can see that it is completely destroyed. The attackers used a truck to cart away fridges televisions bed, foams, generator sets and other household materials.”
The source said that the gunmen have planted informants within the communities in Orsu who point out those opposed to their activities.
The Attorney General confirmed on the telephone to the Network that his father’s compound was burnt in the village on Saturday night.
He did not make further comments on the issue.
“What I can say is that it is true that my father’s house in the village came under attack. It was completely burnt down.”
The Network could not get the Spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Michael Abatham, to comment on the issue as he did not pick the calls placed to him mobile telephone line.
