GOV DIRI TASKS NAF ON SECURITY IN BAYELSA … DONATES LAND FOR NAF RESIDENTIAL QUARTERS

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has tasked the Nigerian Air Force on the need for effective concerted security maintenance in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Daniel Alabrah, quoted the Governor has having made the comment while receiving the new Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Iboro Etuk-Udoh, in Government House, Yenagoa.

Diri stressed that it was important for the new Air Force commander to consolidate on the gains recorded in security maintenance between in the state.

Governor Diri stressed that his administration would continue to work in synergy with the relevant security agencies to ensure the sustenance of the government’s zero-tolerance for crime.

The Governor granted a request for land to build a new residential quarters for the Nigeria Air Force Mobility Command at the New Yenagoa City in the state capital.

He commended the new Air Force Commander for his interest to improve security and observed areas of interest at the Bayelsa International Airport.

The Governor directed the management of the airport to commence the process of integrating Special Forces of the NAF to reinforce security at the airport.

“Here in Bayelsa, we have a very cordial working relationship with the military of which the Air Force is a part. We partner, collaborate and synergise.

“We believe that your coming will further cement the relationship that already exist between the Air Force and the good people and government of Bayelsa State as well as the military in general.

“Let me thank you for raising several issues about the newly functional state international airport. You have requested for special forces to be integrated into the security of the airport. I hereby direct the authorities at the airport to commence that process with your relevant personnel to ensure that our airport is safe.

“On the observation post, I will find out from the airport management and if the memo is on my table, I assure you that it will be approved. Anything security, we don’t play with it. So consider it already done.”

The NAF Commander, Air Vice Marshall Etuk-Udoh who spoke earlier thanked the governor for his administration’s support to the military, especially in the area of logistics to enhance security in the state.
