ELECTRICITY  WORKERS  SUSPEND STRIKE FOR TWO WEEKS

The National Union of Electrical Employees’ has suspended the industrial action embarked upon by union for two weeks.

The decision to suspend the strike follows a for hour meeting between Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige and the leadership of the striking workers on Wednesday

Ngige had invited the eletricity workers, under the aegis of the National Union of Electricity Employees, who had shutdown their services nationwide, to an urgent meeting in Abuja.

The workers went on strike over issued bordering on alleged stigmatization by the Office of the Head of Service, non adherence to their conditions of service and career progress, the non payment of the entitlements of former staff of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria as contained  in the 2019 agreement among others.

The General Secretary of NUEE, Mr confirmed the suspension of the strike in an interview with journalists.

He said that the workers would suspend the stride for two weeks to allow government to address the issues involved.

He assured that power would be restored tonite.

“The strike has been suspended for two weeks. From this night, there will be power supply,” he said.
