Defence Minister Unveils 14 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles In Abuja

News Investigators/ The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, on Monday in Abuja unveiled 14 ViniApex Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected, MRAP, vehicles for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Minister also inaugurated a new Armed Forces Event centre with a seating capacity of 1,500 at the defence headquarters.

Speaking at the event, Mr Musa said the vehicles and facility were part of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening the capacity and professionalism of the armed forces.

According to him, these 14 ViniApex MRAP vehicles are another demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing the safety and operational effectiveness of our troops.

He noted that protected mobility was critical for personnel operating in challenging environments, adding that the vehicles would provide greater protection against mines, improvised explosive devices and ambushes.

“The MRAPs will also enhance operational mobility across our theatres of operation as security challenges continue to evolve,” he said.

On the event centre, the minister said the facility would serve as a befitting venue for military ceremonies, strategic conferences and defence engagements.

“It represents our commitment to providing infrastructure worthy of the men and women who serve our nation with dedication and honour,” he said.

Mr Musa urged personnel who would operate and maintain the vehicles to do so with professionalism, discipline and accountability.

The defence minister commended all those who contributed to the successful delivery of the projects and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping the armed forces with modern platforms to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The event was attended by senior military officers, government officials and defence stakeholders.
