APC Aspirant Challenges Zamfara North Primary Result In Court

News Investigators/ Sani Shinkafi, APC aspirant for Zamfara North Senatorial seat, has filed a legal suit challenging APC primary election outcome.

Mr Shinkafi is among aspirants for Zamfara North Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress platform.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that incumbent Sen. Sahabi Ya’u was declared winner of the APC Zamfara North senatorial primary held on May 19.

Speaking to journalists in Gusau on Monday after filing the suit at the Federal High Court, Gusau, Mr Shinkafi accused the party of exclusion.

“We are challenging the outcome of the primaries held on May 19 that produced Sen. Sahabi Ya’u as winner.

“The APC failed to adhere to the guidelines of the Electoral Act and the Nigerian Constitution during the primaries.

“We are not satisfied with the outcome, hence we filed this case seeking legal action,” Shinkafi explained.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Bello Galadi, urged the court to consider all evidence presented before it to do justice.

He said: “We came to court to file grievance against emergence of Sen. Ya’u as APC candidate for Zamfara North senatorial district.

“The Electoral Act is clear on how a candidate emerges as contained in sections 84 and 85 of the Constitution.”
