3 Lives Lost In Separate Well Mishaps In Kano

News Investigators/ The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of three persons who drowned inside separate wells  incidents on Friday.

A statement by spokesman of the fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the first incident involved an unidentified man in Semegu in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

According to him, we received an emergency call from Hafizu Garba-Saminu at about 07:06 a.m that a man had drowned in a well and we immediately sent our rescue team to the scene.

He said the man’s corpse was brought out of the well and handed  over to Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), Salisu Salihu, of Panshekara Police Division for further investigation.

“In another development, a 32 year old woman, Maimuna Shitu along with her 18 month old son, Harisu Muntari who suffer from mental illness fell inside well in Madarin Taba village, Warawa Local Government.”

Abdullahi said the service received an emergency call from a man, Buhari Sa’idu, at about 09:40 a.m that a woman and her son had drowned in a well.

“We immediately sent our rescue team to the scene and  both victims were brought out of the well.”

He said the deceased bodies were handed  over to the Ward Head, Yusuf Surajo, and the victim’s husband, Muhammad Shitu.

Abdullahi said the cause of incidents are currently under investigation.

He appealed to residents, particularly parents and guardians, to ensure that wells are properly covered in order to prevent such incidents.
