Zamfara: Gov. Lawal To Woo Investors At UNGA In New York

News Investigators/ Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal says he will use the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York to engage with global leaders, partners and international organisations to attract investments for Zamfara.

This is contained in a statement issued by Suleiman Idris, the spokesperson for the governor, in Gusau on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 81st session of the General Assembly is themed: “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”

The statement said key meetings of the UNGA would focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate action, pandemic response, racial justice and nuclear disarmament.

It added that the governor’s participation would showcase Zamfara’s development priorities, build partnerships and explore ways to collaborate on security, economic growth, education, healthcare and sustainable development.

The statement noted that Lawal’s activities would begin on Sept. 18, with a High-Level Executive Global Roundtable Side Event and the SDG Moment.

“On Sept. 21, Gov. Lawal will speak at a high-level side event during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

“The session will hold under the theme: ‘From Fragility to Opportunity: Locally Led Pathways to Peace, Resilience and Investment in Fragile Contexts,’” the statement said.

It added that the event would launch the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework (2026-2030) and help build strategic partnerships and investments to support its implementation.

The statement added that other important events include the SDG Roundtable Discussion 2026 and the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting.

“Lawal will also attend the African-Caribbean High-Level Interactive Dialogue: Redefining Influence, Accelerating Action, and the Nigeria Investment Forum,” it revealed.
