News Investigator/ Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed optimism that the 2027 general elections would be peaceful in the state.
He said this on Saturday in Gombe shortly after casting his vote at the Jekadafari Polling Unit in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency by-election.
Mr Yahaya, who commended the residents for the orderly and peaceful conduct of the exercise, said that the 2027 polls would also be peaceful in the state.
“This election is well organised and very peaceful.
“As you can see, the turnout is very impressive and I’m happy that people are very enthusiastic even though it is a by-election,” he said.
Mr Yahaya highlighted that the significant developments recorded under his administration and that of the Federal Government had made the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its candidates popular.
He urged the people, politicians and other stakeholders to be peaceful and responsible during electioneering campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the by-election is being conducted across 903 polling units in Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye Local Government Areas of the state.
The exercise followed the demise of Mr Yaya-Bauchi Tongo, the former lawmaker, who represented the constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
