Woman In Police Net For Burning To Death  Policewoman, Two Children in Anambra

Operators of the Anambra State command have arrested a middle aged woman, identified as Nneamaka Nwosu, for setting ablaze a police woman and her two children in the State.

Spokesperson of the state command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident on Monday in a telephone interview with the Network. 

It was learnt that the incident happened at Nnokwa in Idemili South Local Government Area.

The suspect, an indigene of Amawbia  in Awka South Local Government Area of the state was said to have been assisted with an accommodation by the police woman in the  (police woman’s apartment) when she (the suspect) was in serious need of accommodation difficulty.

It was gathered  that the suspect had a quarrel with the policewoman, which resulted in a fight.

It was further gathered that the suspect, afterwards allegedly tied the policewoman and her children together with rope, inside her room, set them ablaze, together with the building.

A viral video currently trending on the social media showed the suspect being interviewed after she was arrested at the scene of the incident by operatives of the local vigilante and some of the villagers who were attracted to the scene of the fire.

Mrs. Nwosu, who initially claimed that it was a gas cylinder that exploded as the woman and her children were boiling hot water, later confessed to the crime.

While explaining how she committed the crime, she said it was the handiwork of the devil as she didn’t know what came over her.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, when contacted on Monday confirmed the incident.

He said that the suspect had been arrested, while the bodies of the policewoman and her two children have been deposited in the morgue. 

He disclosed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the command for further investigations and prosecution.

According to him,  “Preliminary information reveals that the female  police accommodated the suspect while she was searching for a house. The two women had a disagreement which resulted in a fight before the suspect hit the woman police on her head with pestle.

“While she became unconscious, she tied her with her two kids and set them ablaze. The bodies of the victims have been recovered and deposited in the morgue. Further development shall be communicated.”
