Wike Refutes Claims Of Rising Insecurity In Abuja

News Investigators/ The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims by some critics alleging rising insecurity in some parts of the territory.

Mr Wike made the rebuttal while speaking with journalists after he inspected some ongoing projects in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, insinuating unfounded security challenges is not helpful.

“Because the Department of Security Services said it has detained a suspect that is fabricating pistols does not constitute an increase in arm robbery.

“We have to be careful of what we sell to the public, we have to be careful.

“I’m not saying there are no one or two incidents of crime, but to say armed robbery has increased in Abuja, I don’t agree.

“I do not agree with that because we have a security report. If an armed robbery happens, the police will notify us and it will be on the report, and I’ve not gotten such a report.”

The minister noted that one or two crimes might have been happening, adding that security agencies are up to the task.
