The Governor Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday inaugurated the first batch of 100, 000 special assistants which appointed by him .
The Special assistants were recently appointed with the mandate to charge of political units ahead of the 2023 general elections.
They inaugurated by the governor at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State on Thursday.
The first batch of those inaugurated are from the Rivers West and Rivers Southeast senatorial district of the State.
The Governor who said that it was a privilege to serve as an aide in Rivers state congratulated the appointees and urged them to work hard.
He charged them to give attention to the views and people’s perception of his administration.
According to him, the new SAs have the mandate to get the impressions of the people about the administration and pass them through the 319 Ward and 32 Constituency Liaison Officers who would in turn pass them to his office.
Wike stressed that the new appointees would determine the decision and political direction of the party and the state.
“Now your own is the most important because it is you that hear directly from the people. It is you that know the feelings of the people about us. It is you that will come and tell us, look, this is what my people are saying.”
“This is a political period, hear from the people. What are they saying. So, you’ll be able to advise the governor, so I will know what decision to take. It is you who will determine what decision the people of Rivers State will take at the end of the day.”
