Usman Ododo Hails Court Verdict Upholding His Election As Kogi Governor

News Investigators/ The governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, Saturday hailed the judgement of the Supreme Court which upheld his election as the elected Governor of Kogi State.

In its ruling, a five-member panel of the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the Social Democratic Party and its candidate, Muritala Ajaka, declaring for lack of merit.

Mr. Ododo, in a statement released weekend by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Ismail Isah, commended the judiciary for upholding the will of the people of Kogi State.

“Governor Ododo praised the judiciary for rising to the occasion and for asserting its position as the last hope of the common man despite several threats and blackmail by those who were bent on upturning the course of justice and the will of the majority of the people of Kogi State,” the statement said.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support, urging opposition leaders in the state to collaborate with his administration to deliver more democratic benefits to the people.

Mr. Ododo also called on his supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress in the state to remain gracious in their celebrations.

The Governor who described his victory to divine intervention, said the November 11 2023 governorship election was a contest among family members, all seeking to serve the people of the state.

He expressed joy saying: “I feel elated about our victory and how the judiciary held on to the point of law and stayed away from emotional blackmail and threats to ensure justice is served.

“The judiciary was threatened and blackmailed but they remained resolute and ignored emotions.

“The victory is not all about me. It is about the people who trooped out on November 11, 2023, to vote for us and we won the election resoundingly. The election was very transparent, fair, credible and it was the most peaceful election in the history of our state,” he stated.

“It is now time for all of us to come together and discuss the affairs of our state towards achieving the greatness that we all wish for Kogi State.”

He vowed to continue serving the people with dedication and a sense of divine responsibility, assuring that his team would intensify efforts to bring innovation in delivering democratic dividends to the state.
