Three Dead As Renewed Rival Cult War Resumes In Edo

By John Ugo

Three persons were in the early hours of Thursday morning found dead at the popular Anigboro and Uselu Motor Park axis of Uselu Quarters, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State following a renewed rival cult killings across the state.

One of the bodies was identified simply as that of Osasere a ticketer at the Uselu Motor Pack and regularly seen at Good Samaritan road.

A source who does not wants his name in print said Osasere was given a hot chase by his assailiants  after he resumed duty at the Uselu Motor Park.

The source added that he tried escaping the siege laid by the assailants who were reported to have been after his elder brother, an alleged member of one of the deadly groups.

It was gathered that trouble was said to have started when a member of the Black Axe confraternity allegedly killed a Malphite group member, an opposite co-fraternity, leading to reprisal for which three members were hacked to death.

The renewed hostility, it was gathered,  is between members of the Black Axe otherwise addressed as Aiye and Malphite Confraternity.

As at the time of filing this report, details of the killings was sketchy.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor when contacted confirmed the incident.

He said that the Command has put in security measures in place to checkmate the deadly incidents.
