News Investigators/ A teacher, Ilesanmi Israel, 40, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing six laptop computers and other valuables worth N2.1million.
Israel, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at Oasis Montessori School at No. 9, Tarmac Road, Dalemo, Ota.
He alleged that the defendant, a computer teacher at the school, allegedly stole six laptop computers, a water dispenser and other valuables worth N2.1 million from his employer.
The prosecutor said that the offence was committed between March 2024 and May 2024
He said that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun,2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed
The magistrate further said that surety must also provide evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Feb.4, for further hearing.
