News Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu State chapter, Vitus Okechi, has called on the party faithful to unite now that the issues bedeviling the party is over.
Mr Okechi made the call in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday, in reaction to the ruling by the Supreme Court nullifying the Ibadan convention.
The convention, which produced former governor of Jigawa, Alhaji Ysnimu Turaki, was organised by Gov. Sheyi Makinde of Oyo, while the other faction was led by the minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike.
He described the Supreme Court verdict as “no victor, no vanquished” and called on every PDP member in the state to come back to rebuild the party’s structures.
“There is no winner and no loser; we are all one family and there is no victor, no vanquished.
“I am calling on PDP family to unite; let’s move the party forward, ” he said.
On the possibility of PDP fielding candidates and winning election ahead of 2027, the chairman said all the party’s aspirants were ready and would be unveiled as soon as possible.
“We have our aspirants and we are already meeting as I speak; so, we are ready for everything and, hopefully PDP will bounce back in Enugu State, ” he said.
Mr Okechi enjoined supporters of the party not to lose sleep and to keep supporting PDP ahead of the future elections in the state.
