Six person have been reportedly killed while scores were injured when suspected armed bandits attacked a billion van belonging to commercial bank, (name withheld) at Idi-Ape area in Ibadan North East local government area of Oyo State on Thursday.

Armed with sophisticated weapons, the bandits, as reliably gathered were shooting sporadically into the air to scare the passersby and motoriats.

The shooting which lasted several minutes left in its trail the death of no fewer than six persons while scores were injured while scampering for safety.

An eyewitness acçount disclosed to our correspondent that three policemen escorting the bullion van were feared dead.

The source added that suspected armed bandits took advantage of the traffic light to launch the onslaught.

The suspected bandits, as reliably informed carted away an undisclosed amount while the chattered bodies of the victims littered the ground.

Our correspondent recalled that scores were killed in the same manner when armed robbers attacked banks in the same axis of the city in 2008.

A source in the area confirmed to our correspondent that the attacked bullion fan has been taken to the police headquarters, Eleyele Ibadan for further investigation

Efforts to get reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Adewale Osifeso, were abortive as he did to pick his calls. Aldo texts messages sent to him were yet to be replied as at the time of filing this report.
