News Investigators/ Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in New Delhi, India, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 18th BRICS Summit.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria , Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, announced Shettima’s arrival in a post on her official Instagram handle on Friday.
The summit, hosted by India, is themed “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Deliberations at the summit are expected to focus on political and security cooperation, economic and financial partnerships, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Shettima is expected to join leaders of BRICS member and partner countries at plenary and high-level sessions on global economic growth, multilateral cooperation and shared development priorities.
The summit is chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is attended by several heads of state and senior government officials.
Among those attending are Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Other delegations include Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
