Sanwo-Olu Congratulates Akande On His 87th Birthday 

News Investigators/ Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated elder statesman and first interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, on his 87th birthday.

Mr Sanwo-Olu, described the former Governor of Osun State, who clocked 87 on Friday, as a true democrat, advocate of good governance and federalism, and a respected political icon whose life of service has positively impacted Nigeria’s political development.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, on Friday, the governor said that Chief Akande, fondly called Baba Omo Kekeke, remained a role model for many Nigerians because of his integrity and dedication to public interest.

He commended Akande’s commitment to public service, particularly during his tenure as first civilian governor of Osun in the Fourth Republic, noting that his example continued to inspire younger generations.

Mr Sanwo-Olu also praised the elder statesman for his pivotal role in the formation of the APC as its first interim National Chairman, as well as his continued fatherly guidance in sustaining the party in Osun State.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Lagos State, and leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, I congratulate our father, Chief Bisi Akande, on his 87th birthday,” he said.

He added that Akande had remained a consistent voice in the progressive movement, for over five decades, contributing immensely to political development and governance in Nigeria.

“Chief Bisi Akande is a true democrat and respected political icon who has consistently advocated for good governance, restructuring and true federalism in Nigeria,” he said

The governor noted that Akande’s selfless service as Secretary to the State Government and later as governor of Osun State, remained a lesson for current and aspiring public office holders.

“All through his years of exemplary service and pro-democracy struggle, he remained dependable, bold and courageous,” he said.

Mr Sanwo-Olu prayed for continued good health and renewed strength for Akande, expressing hope that the nation would continue to benefit from his wealth of experience and wisdom.
