Some major roads are currently deserted while many shops have been closed down as gunmen and soldiers engage themselves in raging gun battle in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Ukpor has been a theatre of murder and other grisly crimes in the State in recent time.
The Network gathered that the battle has been raging since morning, while the residents of the community are currently indoor to avoid being caught in the cross fire
It was gathered that the heavy shooting, took place around St. John’s Church Ukpor, Amadim village and few other parts of the community.
As a result of the ongoing security operation, the inhabitants of the besieged area are being advised to remain indoor and avoid the roads.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu on matter proved abortive as he did not pick the calls placed to his mobile telephone line.
Also, Ikenga was yet to respond to a text message his mobile telephone line m as at the time of filing this reports.
