PSC Defers Decision on Abba Kyari

Police Service Commission, (PSC) is yet to determine the fate of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba, A. Kyari.

The Commission at the continuation of its 14th Plenary Meeting in Abuja on Friday directed the Police to carry out further investigation on the matter and submit the report within two weeks.

Kyari prior to his indictment by a Report of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI) of the United States of America was the officer in charge of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team.

A statement signed by the Commission, Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechuckwj Ani stated that Kyari was investigated by a Special panel set up by the Inspector General of Police for misconducts.

The report, as contained in the statement had been forwarded to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice for legal advice.

However, the Commission has directed that further investigation should take half the time it took the Police to conduct the original investigation.

The statement added that it should be carried out by a different panel.

In a related development, the PSC has reaffirmed its decision to exonerate SP Shaaba Adamu Gboyako, a former Chief Security Officer,to former Inspector General of Police.

The statement read in part, the Commission was mindful of the need to safeguard its corporate image and defend its institutional integrity.

It directed the Inspector General of Police to imement its decision as it affects the officer without delay.

The commission has considered and promoted 89 staff with a promise to ensure that staff promotion would continue to receive priority attention.
