The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two men suspected to have raped four minors of the same parents.
The suspects, Peter Ezeala, 61, from Mbano in Imo State and one Elochukwu Igwilo, 27, from Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, were said to have raped the minors, of ages between, 11 months, 5, 7 and 10 years, respectively, when their mother left for market.
The Network gathered that the suspects had at different times raped the minors left in their custody by their mother.
According to a statement, released by the state Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the Police rescued the four children, and also arraigned the suspects in court.
In the press release, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, CP Echeng Echeng enjoined parents/guardians to exercise utmost discretion in deciding in whose care their children/wards are kept.
The statement reads: “CP gave this advise Monday, 21st March, 2022, following the arrest and interrogation of two suspects- one Peter Ezeala ‘M’ 61years of Mbano, Imo State and one Elochukwu Igwilo ‘M’ 27years of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State.
“The suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in a case of defilement of four minors aged 11months old; 5 years old; 7years old and 10years old respectively. The incident occured in Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State on 5th, March 2022.
“Investigation reveals that the mother of the victims, a trader, always leave the children under the care of the suspects whenever she was away at work. Unfortunately, the suspects capitalized on this to take undue advantage of the children.”
He said the suspects have been remanded in a Correctional Services Centre, CSC, after their arraignment.
