… APC GOVs Meet Buhari on March 26, Date for Convention

The Nigeria Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) said that the governors of the All Progressives Congress have reassured Nigerians that they would not fail them.

The PGF members said that they are not unaware of the enormous sacrifices made by Nigerians to elect them into offices.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu gave the assurance at the end of the PGF meeting held in Abuja.

He said the APC governors as stakeholders of the party would work collaboratively with major stakeholders towards ensuring the emergence of a national executive that would earn the confidence of all party members.

The meeting reviewed developments in states, espespecially, elections that took place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Osun Governorship primaries, the Court judgment that resolved the Kano congress issue and the preparations for the National Convention.

The body took briefings from the Chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party, Governor Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe State on the ongoing preparations for the convention.

Governor Atiku-Bagudu said, “First we appreciate that Nigerians are interested in what the APC is doing because Nigerians give us their mandate by electing us into offices and holding to us high esteem and we are very conscious of that.”

“All the APC Governors have met and ,as always, have appreciated the need to work together with the other stakeholders.”

The forum further resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday to resolve the impasse over the actual date for the Party’s convention which had been fixed few days ago for March 26.

On the speculations that governors of the party were scuttling the Convention, the PGF added that the Caretaker Committee had came up with a time table for the Convention and zonal Congresses.
