Osun Election: Octogenarian Backs Adeleke

News Investigators/ An octogenarian voter in Ede, Bisi Alaraoye, on Saturday expressed confidence that Gov. Ademola Adeleke would emerge victorious in the ongoing governorship election in Osun, saying voters remained supportive.

Mrs Alaraoye, 85, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Sagba Agbogunde Ward 2 Unit 9, said Adeleke’s performance in office had earned him widespread support among residents.

She urged the electorate, especially elderly voters, to come out en masse to vote for candidates of their choice rather than staying indoors during the election and exercise their civic rights.

According to her, the governor has done well in taking care of the elderly since his inception as governor and deserved another term in office to continue his support for them.

“I also want the best for the state because if anything happens to me, those left behind may enjoy the dividends.

“I am confident the incumbent governor will emerge Victorious,” she said, underscoring her confidence in his electoral prospects and hope for another term in office for the state.

She urged the electorate to behave themselves, remain peaceful, and ensure that their votes counted throughout the process, while respecting voters and avoiding actions that could disrupt the exercise or peace.

The octogenarian also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their efforts toward ensuring a smooth electoral process, urging them to sustain efforts through voting and collation.

Alaraoye, however, called on the people of Osun to accept the outcome of the election and support whoever emerged winner, emphasising that peace should remain paramount afterward for the state.
