The battle for the Anambra North Senatorial District’s ticket under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has torn apart the former Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, and his Chief of Staff, Mr Primus Odili.
The Network gathered that the former Governor and his Chief Staff, Odilli, are at loggerheads over who should have the ticket for the Senatorial district between his wife and the chief of staff.
It was gathered that a recent move by Obiano to prevail on his former aide to and kinsman from Aguleri to step down for his wife, Ebelechukwu, was rejected.
Some of the community’s powerful billionaire loyalists to the Chief of Dtaff, Odili, had turned down the former Governor’s plea at a meeting he initiated for the purpose.
It was gathered that the former governor summoned his ‘billionaire boys’ from Aguleri to plead with them to support his wife for the Anambra North Senatorial seat but was given a big shock when the Odili led cabal stood its ground against the request.
At the meeting, Obiano was said to have begged them to stop embarrassing his wife as fighting her was the same as fighting him.
A source at the meeting told The Network that Obiano recalled how he assisted Odili, how he brought him down from USA, appointed him and gave him free hand to operate.
The Network gathered that after tracing his relationship with Odilli, Obiano told himto step down for his wife but it was rejected by Odili’s who spoke against it,
The loyalists stood up and told Obiano boldly that Odilli would not step down. Rather they advised their former boss to force his wife to step down for the Chief of Staff.
The source said that an infruriated Obiano then asked Odili and supporters to get out of his house.
A source at the meeting said that Obiano was almost shedding tears seeing the men he assisted disregard him by walking out on him just three weeks after he left office.
Meanwhile, Ebelechukwu has picked her nomination form at the APGA office in Abuja on Tuesday as she vowed to pursue the battle to wrest the APGA ticket from her opponents.
