Obi Pulls Massive Crowd in Lagos, Preaches Violence-Free Electioneering.

The campaign train of Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi’s campaign took Lagos by storm, pulling a massive crowd of supporters across the city.

The excitement of the people was electrifying as activities on the nation’s foremost commercial city was shut down by youths, women, and adults who turned out en masse to received the popular Presidential Candidate.

The visits of the LP Candidate to strategic  markets and the road works along strategic areas in the commercial city triggered widespread reactions from people in all parts of Lagos.

The Tafawa Balewa Square, Obalende venueto the warm of the event was filled to capacity with thousands of people outside.

There were attempts to some hoodlums and hirelings to frustrate the rally which failed woefully.

The Lagos Police Command confirmed four injured and many vehicles damaged by the urchins ostensibly engineered by political opponents.

From the popular Alaba International Market in the Ojo area through Festac to Apapa, Ikeja,  Maryland, Onipanu to Surulere among others, there was dancing and singing with chants of Obi.

In all the strategic places, where Obi addressed the crowd, he preached non-violence electioneering and promised a new Nigeria where the people will sojourn in peace and harmony.

He condemned violence and brutality and called on the youths to eschew violence. “As we go into the final stretch for the 2023 elections, I call on all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation or tendency, to eschew violence. I condemn any form of violence or political thuggery; and especially the incessant attack on my Obidient supporters”

Obi also called on the security forces nationwide to protect those exercising their fundamental rights of free speech and assembly, warning that the people’s civil space must not shrink further than it is already.

At the rally, Obi told Lagosians that he and Datti are coming to revolutionize governance and create a new Nigeria where people will be each and security.

The former Anambra state Governor told the visibly excited and thrilled crowd that he and his Vice are more qualified than anybody in the race in so many ways – competence, capacity, antecedents, and capabilities.

He stressed that  both  of them are coming from the private sector and have paid their dues,

He noted that they  have no dented records as their antecedents and past  in all areas are verifiable.

He said that they will take Nigeria away from sharing to production in line with their consumption-to-production policy designed to provide jobs to millions of youths in their productive age and pull people out of poverty.

Speaking specifically about Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub, Obi said that in revolutionizing governance, the hiccups at the seaports will be addressed and an enabling environment created for businesses to thrive.

The LP flag bearer reminded the mammoth crowd that February 25, 2023, Presidential election is going to be different, as it would be based on competence, character, and competence of candidates not on tribe, religion, or my turn. 

“It’s the turn of Nigerians to take back their country and reposition it for a huge role in the comity of nations.” He said 

Other speakers at the rally such as his  running  mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmad, LP National Chairman, Bar Julius Abure among others, buttressed the fact that a new Nigeria is possible through Obi-Datti and the Labour Party
