… SAYS GOD USED SUPREME COURT TO RESTORE HOPE
The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has called on the political class in the state to stop the brand of politics that is anchored on bitterness blackmail and lies.
Diri said that the it was high time Bayelsa dropped the system that targets political opponents for destruction.
The Governor made the comment while speaking at a thanksgiving service organized to mark his second anniversary in office in Yenagoa on Sunday.
“Do we still play that politics of blackmail; that politics of telling lies, that politics of pull him down? My dear people of Bayelsa, we have left Egypt and we will no longer return to it.
Let us build a Bayelsa that our children will be proud of.”
Diri recalled the dicey situation in the Bayelsa PDP which heralded his eleventh hour victory at the Supreme even as he returned the glory to God.
He said that there was serious molestation of the PDP and even the former Governor and all hopes seemed lost when God gave him the eleventh hour victory.
He said, “After the victory that God gave to us, as a people we all gathered here to give thanks to God. Today, it is two years.
“At a time when the flags of PDP were taken away from Government House gate, at a time when the former Governor was almost arrested inside Government House.
“At a point when hopes were lost. We didn’t know where to turn to: right or left. But all we consoled ourselves was that there is still a God who ruled in the affairs of men.
“And at the end of the day, what nobody expected, the God of the impossible made it possible. Today makes it two years of that miracle.”
He urged Bayelsans to embrace the virtue of forgiveness and be united in the task of building and bequeathing a more developed and prosperous state to the younger generation.
