The Nigeria Labour Congress, rNLC, on Tuesday ended the first day of the two-day solidarity protest against the prolonged Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, strike at the Lagos State government Secretariat at Alausa, Ikeja.

The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Sanwo-Olu,was conspicuously absent to address the members of the NLC.

The Commissioner for Lagos State Ministry of Establisments, Training and Pension, Mrs Ajibola Ponle, who represented the governor, however, recieved the letter from the NLC for the Governor.

She explained that the Governor was out of the state to attend to other vital State duties but assured the NLC that she would relay the Congress message to the Governor.

According to her, the Governor is a listening leader who would communicate to the President Mohammadu Buhari, the content of their letter.

She praised the NLC for the peaceful conduct of the protest and thanked them for ensuring that it was well coordinated.
