A prominent police officer, Mr Emmanuel Asufi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police has been confirmed dead by the authorities of the Bayelsa State Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the shocking death of the officer to journalists on Wednesday.
Butswat described the death of the late senior officer, as shocking and saddening.
The Network gathered that the ACP, an amazing personality and stickler for professionalism and discipline collapsed in his office at the Bayelsa State Police Command, and died on Tuesday.
The Network has it on good authority that the late Delta-born police officer was a rare breed and one of the best policemen who adhered to professionalism in its strictest terms.
He combined, zeal, courage, and passion in the tough task of securing Bayelsa.
The super neat, humane and dedicated police officer was the officer in charge of administration at the command.
Asufi was once the Chief Security Officer at the Bayelsa State Government House under former Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
He was also the Commander of the state-owned security outfit, Operation Doo Akpo where he led a team of committed policemen to battle criminals in Bayelsa State.
He was so effective that his response time to a distress call was always amazing and applauded.
A senior police office told The Network that the late cop collapsed after exchanging pleasantries in his characteristic manner with men and officers.
The officer lamented that Asufi was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa where he was confirmed dead.
The officer said that late ACP has acquired a degree in law and was a student at the Law School, Yenagoa when the sudden, painful death occurred.
He was billed graduate from the law school in September 2022.
