Niger South Senatorial Seat: Legal Luminaries Endorse Ndarani SAN For Senate

News Investigators/ Prominent legal practitioners from Niger South (Zone A) have unanimously endorsed Bar. Ndarani, SAN, as their preferred aspirant for the Niger South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The endorsement was made during a strategic planning and mobilisation meeting of the Niger Zone “A” Lawyers Forum held at the Women Commission Centre, Minna.

The meeting, which attracted over one hundred and seventy senior lawyers from across the zone as well as political stakeholders and supporters, was chaired by Bar. Lakpene Yusuf-Bida, a seasoned legal practitioner with over 43 years post-call experience, renowned technocrat, politician and author.

The lawyers, who spoke at the meeting, expressed concern over what they described as the persistent developmental setbacks facing Niger South since the return of democratic governance in 1999.

The lawyers noted that despite the geographical and political importance of the zone, stretching from Jebba in the North to Azza in the Southern part of Lapai local government area, Niger South has not benefited adequately from Federal Government intervention projects facilitated through its representatives at the National Assembly.

According to the forum lawyers, this situation had resulted in noticeable gaps in infrastructural development and limited federal presence in the area, especially when compared with other senatorial zones in the state.

The meeting identified several factors responsible for the perceived inadequacies, including what the participants described as poor representation, lack of capacity and ineffective utilisation of legislative opportunities to attract meaningful development to the zone.

Consequently, the forum resolved that the time has come for a more competent, experienced and capable personality to represent the zone at the Senate.

The lawyers unanimously agreed that Ndarani, Hukunchi Nupe and Hausaland possesses the competence, experience and leadership qualities required to provide effective representation and reposition the zone for accelerated development.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the forum, Bar. Lakpene Yusuf-Bida, said the gathering was convened to unite lawyers from Niger South and mobilise support towards ensuring the success of Ndarani’s senatorial aspiration.

Yusuf-Bida said the forum also aimed at creating awareness among the people of the zone on the need to rally behind a candidate capable of restoring the zone’s lost opportunities at the federal level.

He emphasised that members of the legal profession, being influential stakeholders within their respective communities, must utilise their positions to sensitise the electorate on the importance of electing a credible and competent representative.

The chairman further said that Niger South was fortunate to currently have the state Governor emerging from the zone, stressing that effective collaboration between the executive and a capable senator would accelerate development in the area.

According to him, the zone, therefore, requires a versatile, dedicated and highly competent personality who can work closely with the governor to attract federal projects and maximise opportunities available to the zone.

It would be recalled that participants at the meeting reaffirmed their collective commitment to mobilising support across communities, professional bodies and political structures to ensure the success of Ndarani in the forthcoming 2027 senatorial election.

The forum concluded that the endorsement of Ndarani, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) reflected the collective aspiration of legal practitioners in Niger South to promote quality representation, purposeful leadership and sustainable development for the people of the zone.
