Netanyahu Accuses Germany Of ‘Rewarding’ Hamas Over Arms Export Halt

News Investigators/ Isreal’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Germany of “rewarding” Hamas with its decision to halt the export of arms to Israel.

Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his disappointment in a conversation with Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Friday for halting the export of arms to Israel that could be used in the 22-month-old war in Gaza Strip, a statement by his office said.

“Instead of supporting Israel’s just war against Hamas, which carried out the worst attack against Jews since the Holocaust, Germany is rewarding Hamas’ terrorism with an arms embargo on Israel,” the statement said.

Mr Netanyahu told Merz that Israel’s goal was not to take over the Gaza Strip, but to free it from Hamas.

Merz’s decision, which marked a major shift in German foreign policy, came hours after Israel’s Security Cabinet agreed to launch a new military offensive to seize control of Gaza City.
