NAN Reactivates District Offices In Hadejia, Gumel, Seeks Jigawa Govt. Support

News Investigators/ The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said it would reactivate its district office in Hadejia and open another in Gumel, Jigawa, to expand its operations.

The Managing Director of NAN, Ali Muhammad Ali, disclosed this on Wednesday, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Jigawa, Aminu Usman, in Dutse.

The MD explained that he was in Jigawa on a working visit, to strengthen the cordial relationship with the state government.

He said the aim of the extension is to explore more news sources and strengthen news coverage across the state.

The MD  appealed to the Jigawa Government, to support the agency with renovation of  its office in Dutse, saying that the intervention would enhance the agency’s operations.

According to him, the office requires immediate and serious attention, particularly in the area of security. There are security concerns that affect our operations.”

Mr Ali further highlighted that NAN has an extensive network of correspondents across Nigeria and in some foreign countries, making it one of the most far-reaching news organisations on the continent.

He said Jigawa had distinguished itself in agriculture and continued to enjoy a peaceful environment, making it attractive for investment.

“If the government gives NAN the opportunity, we will continue to project its activities and achievements across the world.

“People rely on NAN for credible and reliable information. As our slogan says, ‘Talk to NAN, Talk to All’,” he said.

Responding, the deputy governor commended the agency for its contribution to information dissemination in the state.

He said NAN had continued to support the state by giving visibility to its activities and programmes beyond Nigeria.

Gumel assured the agency that its request for the renovation of the Dutse office would be conveyed to Gov. Umar Namadi, expressing confidence that the government would do the needful.

He also urged the NAN management to continue encouraging and mentoring young people interested in journalism, particularly at a time when social media had become popular among youths.
