The Authorities of the Nigerian Air Force Base ,Makurdi , have apologized to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State over the conduct of some NAF personnel who refused to grant access to the Governor to receive Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday.
The Governor was at the NAF Base, Makurdi to receive Prof Osinbajo who was using the Airport fly to Taraba State where he was billed to represent the President as the Visitor to the Federal University, Wukari.
Curiously, in what turned out to be a disregard to the established protocol, the Governor was denied access at the NAF base.
A furious Ortom had told journalists at the Government House, Makurdi, that the action of the NAF officer who turned him back was “an unacceptable, breach of protocol, and politics taken too far.”
However, a Government House Source said on Saturday evening that the NAF authorities have tendered an apology to the Governor who has since accepted the apology.
The NAF authorities were said to have attributed the incident to a breakdown in communication.
