LAGOS CP ORDERS ARREST OF ORGANIZERS OF FUEL SOUVENIR PARTY IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command has ordered the immediate arrest of the organizers of a party at the Oniru Area of the State where Petrol in gallons were distributed to guests as souvenirs.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, had earlier directed the identification and sealing of the event Centre where the bizarre dimension was introduced to souvenir distribution in parties.

Investigation revealed that the party was part of the events to celebrate the coronation of a popular fashion personality, Pearl Ogbulu, as the Erelu Okin by an Ogun State monarch, the Olu Of Kemta, Oba Adetokunbo Tejuoso.

The organizers’act speaks volumes about the trauma Nigerians have had to go through in the past weeks  at filing stations where they queue for hours to get the scarce product.

The Spokesman of the Command, Mr. Adekunle Ajisebutu, described the act as regrettable and reprehensible in a statement on Saturday.

The Police wondered how how some individuals could expose public safety to such a dangerous inflammatory substance in spite of repeated warnings.

“It’s regrettable that in spite of series of warnings and sensitisations carried out by the Police and other relevant government agencies, some individuals could be handling such combustible substance in a public place in total disregard to safety of lives and properties.

“Still concerned about the safety, and protection of lives and properties of citizens, the Lagos State Police Command once again appeals to citizens to avoid this kind of condemnable act in the name of generosity.

“Although the event centre where the distribution of the souvenirs took place has been located and subsequently sealed, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, has in addition, ordered the arrest of all persons involved in this regrettable and reprehensible act.” The statement read in part
