Lagos 2027: APC Clears Hamzat For Guber Primaries

News Investigators/ The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, on Saturday got approval from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Screening Committee to contest for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket.

Mr Hamzat made the discloure after appearing before the 11-man committee in Abuja, according to his post on X.

The committee is headed by Dr Benjamin Nwoye.

Mr Hamzat described the exercise as  transparent, deliberate and excellent.

“Today in Abuja, I appeared before the APC Governorship Screening Committee ahead of our party primaries.

“I am grateful for the clean bill of approval to move forward,” he said.

The deputy governor said that his ambition was anchored on service and continuity, adding that the current administration had laid a strong foundation for the state’s growth.

“This journey is about service and commitment to all Lagosians.

“We have built a solid foundation, and now we are ready to take the next step toward a greater and more inclusive Lagos.

“The work continues, and I am ready to keep moving forward with you,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that APC began  sale of its Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms on April 28, with screening of aspirants scheduled from May 6 to May 9.

APC gubernatorial primary election will hold on May 21.
