Kano Pilgrims Risk Losing Hajj Seats Over Passport Deadline

News Investigators/ The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has warned that intending pilgrims who fail to submit their valid international passports by Aug. 25 may not be allocated seats for the 2026 Hajj.

The Director-General of the board, Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, disclosed this in a statement signed by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, on Saturday in Kano.

“The deadline is necessary to enable the board to complete the enrolment and documentation of registered intending pilgrims ahead of the Hajj exercise.

“The measure is in view of the anticipated closure of the Saudi Arabian Hajj registration server towards the end of August,” it disclosed.

The statement urged all registered intending pilgrims “who are yet to submit their passports to do so on or before Aug. 25.”

It added that the board would not be responsible for any consequences arising from failure to comply with the deadline.

The board therefore advised intending pilgrims to treat the directive with urgency and ensure full compliance within the stipulated period.
