Kano Consumer Council Confiscates 419 Cartons Of Expired Agrochemicals, Seals Warehouse

News Investigators/ The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) says it has confiscated 419 cartons of expired agricultural chemicals along Club Road in the Kano metropolis.

The Executive Secretary of the council, Ibrahim Garba-Muhammad, disclosed this in a statement issued by the council’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Jamilu Mustapha, on Saturday in Kano.

“The raid was carried out following credible intelligence indicating that the expired chemicals had been stockpiled at the location.

“There was an alleged attempt to alter the condition of the products and reintroduce them into the market.

“Officials of the council recovered the products and sealed the premises where they were stored, pending the completion of investigations and the commencement of appropriate legal action,” he said.

Mr Garba-Muhammad added that the operation was part of the council’s ongoing efforts to prevent the circulation of adulterated, expired, and unsafe products in the state.

The Executive secretary said the council is committed to protecting the health and safety of consumers across Kano.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist in identifying and combating the circulation of adulterated and unsafe products.

The executive secretary also called on traders, companies, and individuals to report suspected unsafe or unsuitable products to the council through its designated communication channels.

Garba-Muhammad commended the State Government for its continued support to the council in discharging its responsibilities.

He assured residents that the council would take necessary measures to safeguard consumers and prevent unsafe products from entering the market.
