News Investigators/ Kaduna State Governor, Sani, has pledged government support for the family of Malama Ummulkhairi Usman, who was killed by a mob in Maraban Jos.
Mr Sani made the pledge on Saturday during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Maraban Jos, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna.
He said the state government would cater for the deceased’s husband and four children, including sponsoring the children’s education.
The governor described the killing as tragic and condemned the mob action in strong terms.
Mrs Ummulkhairi, an Islamic teacher, was allegedly attacked and burnt by a mob following accusations of attempting to kidnap children.
The incident occurred penultimate Sunday in Maraban Jos, along the Kaduna Zaria Expressway.
Mr Sani said he was outside Kaduna on official duty when the incident occurred.
He added that senior government officials were immediately directed to condole with the bereaved family.
The governor assured residents that everyone involved in the killing would face the full weight of the law.
He said security agencies had intensified investigations to uncover all those responsible.
According to him, investigations have so far led to the prosecution of 41 suspects for alleged culpable homicide.
He added that another 41 persons were investigated in connection with the incident.
Mr Sani also disclosed that 30 suspects had been charged with unlawful assembly.
He stressed that no individual, regardless of status, would be shielded from prosecution.
The governor said the government would ensure justice to discourage mob actions across the state.
He also directed security agencies to investigate the alleged complicity of some personnel.
Mr Sani specifically called for a thorough investigation into the role of the Divisional Police Officer in Maraban Jos.
