Jos Disco Blames Power Supply Drop On Reduced Grid Allocation

News Investigators/ The Jos Electricity Distribution PLC (JED) has attributed the recent decline in power supply across its franchise areas to a significant drop in electricity allocation from the national grid.

Saratu Dauda, Head of Corporate Communications of the company, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Jos.

Mrs Dauda said the reduction in electricity allocation from the national grid had directly affected the volume of power available for distribution to customers.

“The reduction in power supply is a result of decreased allocation from the national grid.

“As a distribution company, our capacity to supply electricity is dependent on what is made available to us,” she said.

She emphasised that the situation was largely beyond the control of the company and appealed to customers for understanding.

According to her, the company is engaging relevant stakeholders in the power sector to address the challenge and improve supply stability across its areas of operation.

Mrs Dauda reiterated the company’s commitment to improved service delivery, adding that efforts were ongoing to ensure more stable power supply.

The development comes amid growing concerns over fluctuating electricity supply and broader energy challenges nationwide.
