News Investigators/ A former senate leader and frontline politician from Adamawa, Jonathan Silas Zwingina, is dead.
Mr. Zwingina who represented Adamawa South District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, celebrated his 70th birthday bare two months ago.
The late Zwingina came into national prominence as the Director-General (D.G) of the MKO Abiola Campaign Organisation in the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Mr. Zwingina was first elected into the Nigerian senate in 1999 where he distinguished himself as a senator representing Adamawa south senatorial district.
The cause of his death was not immediately clear but sources said Mr. Zwingina died in Abuja.
The Adamawa-born politician was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998 and served as the Senate Majority Leader for two terms.
He later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
