News Investigators/ The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has condemned the recent attack on Kasuwar Daji market in Niger, resulting to no fewer than 30 deaths.

“We sympathise with the government and people of Niger and urge the government to take concrete actions to address insecurity.

“The JNI calls for prompt identification with the victims, national broadcast to dissuade reprisals, prosecution of negligent officials, and collaboration with the security agencies to end security threats.$

According to Prof. Aliyu, JNI firmly also wantsthe government to take immediate and tangible actions.

He said, “Government officials should visit the affected areas to show solidarity with the victims and the communities in mourning.

“Following such visits, a national address is necessary to defuse public anger and discourage retaliatory attacks.”

The JNI also called for the prosecution of any officials negligent in their duties to serve as a deterrent against complacency within the public service.

It also called on the relevant security agencies to devise a comprehensive plan to address all threats to national security, and tackle the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
