JAMB Registrar Tasks Nigerians On Education, National Development

News Investigators/ The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has called for a repositioning of Nigeria’s education sector to reduce dependence on foreign assistance.

Prof. Oloyede made the call in Ibadan on the sideline of the 595th  Inaugural Lecture of the University of Ibadan delivered by Prof. Dhikru Adewale Yaboyaju of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Science, on Thursday evening.

The JAMB registrar, who stressed the importance of collective responsibility in national development, said Nigeria would continue to progress if every citizen made meaningful contributions within their own capacity.

Prof. Oloyede said that Nigeria would not need to depend on foreign assistance if it’s education sector was properly positioned.

“We will continue to develop as long as every Nigerian makes his or her own contribution.

“Let each of us, in our little way, contribute to the development of the nation,” he said.

The registrar urged stakeholders in the education sector to take ownership of the system and strengthen it as drivers of Nigeria’s growth and independence.
